Overview

Non-Fiction Writing produces skill textbooks for any skill listed in the game's textbook catalogue. Books are written via a ~46-hour offline hangout at a Non-Fiction Writing Table or Desk. Players with VIP access can read books to gain XP via their Autodidacticism skill — you do not need VIP to write them, only to sell/gift them.

Writing rule: To write a textbook covering levels X–Y, your NFW must be ≥ X and your own effective level in that skill must be ≥ X + 25.
Example: Battle Chemistry (51–60) requires NFW ≥ 51 AND Battle Chemistry eff ≥ 76. Your BC is eff80 — skill requirement is already met. Just needs NFW 51.
Warning: If you start a different hangout after beginning a book write, the write is cancelled and your ink and parchment are not refunded. Don't switch hangouts mid-write.

Phase 2 Learn Non-Fiction Writing

Once Calligraphy is at level 50 (not just effective level — the raw level cap must reach 50), seek out Hirochi the Booklord and pay his one-time training fee to unlock NFW at level 0.

Wintria Irasce (Rahu) unlocks the NFW cap from 61 to 80 later if you want to go higher, but NFW 51 is the target for your best current books.
